Breakfast at Arce Hotel and Restaurant

The Basque region of France is known for its unique culture and fine cuisine. Situated largely in the Pyrenees the region stretches across the border of both France and Spain, and the people, culture and cuisine has been influenced by both counties, yet, for the most part, remain fiercely proud of their unique heritage.
Hotel Arce, situated in the picturesque village of St. Etienne de Baigorry at the foot of Ispeguy col  in the Pyrenees is the perfect location to explore this unique region.  The hotel has been in the same family for five generations- over 140 years- and was frequently used by pilgrims on the route to Santiago de Compostela. Rooms have been beautifully decorated with hand crafted wooden furniture and local art, all with en suite facilities.

Traditional Guest Rooms

It is the restaurant however that attracts most people to this small town. Chef Pascal Arce sources all ingredients locally and combines traditionally Basque recipes, with international touches.  River fish, local lamb, pork, Basque cheeses and farmhouse vegetables feature heavily on the menu.
Single rooms are available from €70 and doubles from €125 with half board available for an additional €100. The gastronomic tasting menu in the hotel’s restaurant is €45 per person.
